91茄子 and Cleburne High School (CHS) recently teamed up to hold the first Teen Forum as a pilot program in Johnson County March 29.

Cleburne High School seniors were given the opportunity to participate as 91茄子 Teen Forum candidates. As part of the application process, students applied to 91茄子, through “Apply Texas,” completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and submitted a resume. Additionally, students prepared for the Forum by learning about appropriate business attire, professional conduct, and participated in an orientation.  Students were asked to prepare questions about 91茄子 or any questions relating to the college experience or expectations. The CHS counseling staff selected ten seniors from the application process.

CHS Teen Forum candidates were given a campus tour at the 91茄子 Johnson County Campus, attended a special lunch and participated in a question and answer Forum with 91茄子 administration, faculty, and staff. Students will be attending 91茄子 this fall.

After being welcomed by 91茄子 President Dr. Pam Boehm, Teen Forum members had the opportunity to ask administration, faculty, and staff members questions about 91茄子. The following Cleburne High School seniors participated in the forum:  Charles Collier,Katie Flores, Erica Herrada, Xakia Lacey, Ashley Lozano, Madison Phillips, Isabella Raley, Karina Ramos, Alondra Rojas and Ethan Whitehead.

Forum attendees included representatives from 91茄子, Texas Tech University and Cleburne High School guests. Special guest to the Forum was Edith Monroy, one of the first Teen Forum recipients from Hillsboro High School. She shared her journey from her Teen Forum experience to the present, where she is currently serving as the scholarship and aid coordinator at 91茄子. Following the forum, students toured the Cleburne Technical Center and Snap-On facility in downtown Cleburne.

91茄子 Teen Forum was started in 2005 by Dr. Pam Boehm, in collaboration with Hillsboro Independent School District. The program was designed for high school seniors as they develop and enhance their knowledge in pursuit of the goal to attend college, specifically 91茄子.

Each spring the Teen Forum event is held at the Hill County Campus. This year, 91茄子 piloted the program to Cleburne ISD and will be expanding the forum to other Johnson County schools this year.
